        Richard Kahn SM '13

        Picture
Richard is a junior from Chicagoland majoring in Math and Philosophy. He plays piano and shouts. He likes Phish and parallel fifths.

        Ben Kline BK '14

        Picture
Ben is a sophomore. He plays fiddle and mandolin (when there's one lying around). He is from Pittsburgh and can digest steel and curse in Yiddish. He is currently serving an indefinite sentence as Klez webmaster and founding member of the costume committee (קאָסטיום קאמיטעט in Yiddish).

        Fabi Fernandez DC '15

        Picture
Fabian is a freshman in Davenport College interested in studying Anthropology and Global Health. One of the few gentiles in the Yale Klezmer Band, Fabian can frequently be seen at Shabbat Dinner attempting to sneak a few knishes and a glass of Manischewitz under the alias Josh 'Josué' Levy, member of one of Caracas's most chimerical Klezmer clans. Although new to Klezmer, Fabian hopes to one day fill the "sapozhhkelekh" (little boots) of his predecessor accompanying the band with harmonic support and melodic flourishes. As one spectator described him: "Watching him [Fabian] play, is like watching a small boy charm woodland creatures." Enough said.

        Jessica Saldinger CC '15

        Picture
Jessica brings her snazzy trumpet playing to Yale all the way from sunny California. Her facebook interests include Taylor Swift, 'deceptively colored oranges,' and....Klezmer. Go figure!

        Emile Greer TD '15

        Picture
Emile is mayor of the practice room on Foursquare. He plays clarinet and knows what's up, as evidenced in this photograph. Fun, false fact: Emile is a benchwarmer for the French olympic badminton team.

        Adam Matlock

        Picture
Adam has been playing klezmer accordion pretty much since the genre was invented. In fact, he may have invented it himself. He is the source of much of our repertoire and lore, including the legend of Belf.

        Greta Tattleman Parnes DC '14

        Picture
Greta shocked the Yale Klezmer community when she came to her YKB audition prepared to sing the song we'd prepared to have her sight-read --- and in perfect Yiddish! Greta's been to KlezKamp (or maybe KlezKanada? Either way, we're suuuper jealous) so she's kind of a legit klezmer musician, but she's not afraid to sing in Serbian or Swahili when duty calls. She's also the only band member who manages to show up to rehearsal on time (she probably has a time turner).

        Dom Lawton BK '13

        Picture
Dom is our resident Russian major and can scratch out  a mean Katyusha on his fiddle. He was once told by a Jewish grandmother that he has 'lively hands' when he plays, which he could only take as a compliment. When asked to describe himself, Dom likes to respond with this quote: "Saws dancing at a sawmill convey to us a joy more intimate and intelligible than that on human dance floors." Your guess is as good at ours, but Dom's still pretty skilled at making the humans dance on human dance floors.

Aaron Bloomfield GRD '20 and Gillian Bloomfield FES '11

        Picture
Yes, we saved the cutest for last. Aaron is our multitalented mostly bassist, sometimes clarinetist, always chemist. Gillian has a delectable voice and is sometimes mistaken for the third, long lost Barry sister. They have continued the adorable but uncanny tradition of intra-Klezmer band marriages.
